The database holds data on over 100,000 localities in Poland

The database covers primary localities (e.g. Warszawa, Zielona Góra) and their parts (e.g. Mokotów, Łężyca). It always contains current data, refreshed once a year based on the register of GUS (the Central Statistical Office, TERYT) - the data is in a convenient form and of high quality, and its scope covers the whole of Poland.

Our data is used by financial institutions and by companies in the telecommunications, e-commerce and logistics sectors.

Over 100,000 localities and their parts, with GUS TERYT data

The localities database includes the following information:

• The province, county and municipality names together with their GUS TERYT identifiers,
• The name of the primary locality (e.g. Warszawa, Zielona Góra) and its TERYT identifier,
• The name of the part of the locality (e.g. Mokotów, Łężyca) and its TERYT identifier,
• The longitude and latitude of the locality center, determined from the geographic distribution of dwellings,
• [optional] The number of dwellings assigned to the main locality and to its parts, based on the GUS residential buildings database.

The database is limited to reliable, official data on primary localities and their parts - with no unnecessary, uncertain information from unofficial sources.

Locality names and the administrative division (TERYT)

Every locality in the database is unambiguously linked to territorial division units through TERYT identifiers. TERYT is the National Official Register of the Territorial Division of the Country, maintained by GUS (the Central Statistical Office).

Within TERYT, the TERC system identifies administrative units (provinces, counties, municipalities), while the SIMC system defines which units a locality belongs to. This makes it easy to link every locality name and its part to the correct municipality, county and province, as well as to data from other registers that use TERYT.

Longitude and latitude determined from the distribution of dwellings rather than a simplified geometric center, so they better reflect the actual layout of the buildings.

The data is provided in CSV / XLSX / ODS, which makes it easy to import into CRM, ERP and other systems.

The option to enrich every locality and its parts with the number of dwellings, which makes analyzing and segmenting areas easier.

What can you use the localities database for?

How many localities does the database hold?

The database holds data on every primary locality and part of a locality in Poland (over 100,000).

Where does the data come from?

The data comes from the register of GUS, the Central Statistical Office (TERYT), and is updated once a year.

Does the database include geographic coordinates?

Yes. For every locality we provide the longitude and latitude of its center. Where there is residential development, we determine the point from the geographic distribution of dwellings; in localities with no residential buildings, the coordinates come from the PRNG register (the National Register of Geographical Names).

How does the localities database differ from the postal codes, localities and streets database?

The localities database describes localities and their parts together with TERYT identifiers, the number of dwellings and coordinates - it doesn't include streets or postal codes. If you need data on streets and postal codes, you'll find it in our postal codes, localities and streets database. The two products complement each other nicely.

What format do you provide the data in?

We provide the data in CSV / XLSX / ODS.
