Business challenge

The main source of financing of the statutory activities comes from the donations of individual donors. The organization collects data about the donations and donors using Microsoft Dynamics CR 4.0 system, which holds records about 150 thousand donors and over 600 thousand donations. In 2006 the Association introduced segmentation of the benefactors, which after a couple of years required updating.

As part of the project carried out for the SOS Children’s Villages Association Algolytics delivered recommendations concerning the collection of detailed information about the donors. These recommendations focused on more effective use of the data already in the Association’s possession. Methods of acquiring additional information about the benefactors and their activities were also recommended. Having access to more complex data will enable us in the future to perform analyses and devise models improving the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

An immediate result of the introduced recommendations was an update of the existing segmentation of the donor database, thanks to which we were able to identify neglected areas of the database and define new segments. This resulted in the optimization of our marketing efforts (such as decreasing campaign costs, increasing the ROI index).

The deployment of the recommendations provided by Algolytics will improve the effectiveness with which our organization obtains donations from individual donors. The know-how and experience we obtained will certainly serve as an example of good practice for SOS Children’s Villages in other Central European countries.
